Not so "Traditional"?

Writer's picture: Chrisann A.Chrisann A.

Growing up in church, I saw men wearing suits and ties while women wore long skirts; fully covered, modest and conservative styles were deemed appropriate for church. As I grew older I became more aware of the different trends and styles on social media which helped me to find my own. As years go by, the traditional church attire has evolved into so much more. Church clothes have become modernized or as some would say, not so "traditional".

What We Wear to Church, aka #WWW2C is a faith-based fashion blog and clothing brand created by the creative genius and man of God, Gerry Fortilus. WWW2C has redefined the meaning of the traditional take on "church clothes" and has designed sustainable, modern, unique and stylish garments. Not to mention, each garment is designed with the intent to promote a deeper message spreading the love of Jesus Christ. Afterall, we are all his masterpieces and he has created us to serve, and support each other while slaying in style.

I had the pleasure of collaborating with WWW2C. Styling a few pieces from his clothing brand.

1) "Impact of Peace" tie-dye t-shirt

I styled this turquoise blue tie-dye t-shirt with a cargo skirt, nude heels, a brown fedora hat, and a pop of color with accessories such as a blue purse and a gold and pink necklace, topping it off with a classic gold framed sunglasses. A classy yet casual summer outfit.

2) "Same Team Denim Jacket (Collar)

I styled this oversized denim jacket which displays the words "ONE CHURCH" on the collar. I paired it with a mustard yellow tank top, red pleated skirt, clear block heels, simple gold jewelry and gold framed sunglasses. A fun yet stylish summer color-block outfit.

One thing I admire about the WWW2C brand is that it's more than just aesthetics and cool designs. It's a movement that encourages and inspires a lifestyle that promotes God's love. As the brand logo reads, "What WE Wear to Church". No matter who you are, you are welcomed to receive the love of Jesus. He doesn't focus on outward appearance but who you are within.

Keep calm and serve 🙏🏾 in Style!
